A group of enthusiastic students and their teachers joined the ApexBT Redhill Weekly Food Distribution programme to lend a helping hand.
The Day in Action
- The student group arrived full of excitement and curiosity.
- Under supervision, the children helped sort foods, count items, and assemble food bags.
- Teachers and parent volunteers guided them, ensuring safety and meaning behind each action.
Moments That Mattered
The children had prepared some hand made cards and they delivered them one by one to the beneficiaries: most of the seniors were really pleased to receive this personal contribution from the children and the smiles were flying .
Watching the children’s faces light up as they realized their contribution mattered reminded everyone present that age is no barrier to giving.
The day reflected what volunteering and donating food is really about: love, empathy, awareness, and community.

Why This Matters
- Cultivating empathy early: exposing young children to service instills compassion and a sense of responsibility toward their community.
- Supporting a vital programme: the Redhill distribution ensures that low-income elderly receive nutritious food including fruits, vegetables, dry goods and sometimes other essentials.
- Strengthening community bonds: when community groups, like a preschool, partners with long-running programmes like Redhill Food Distribution, it fosters a deeper connection between generations.
